Honoring Mona Tyree and Dr. Mike Cermak at Holy Ghost Park in Lowell
Holy Ghost Park in Lowell was filled with a spirit of perseverance and remembrance as the community gathered to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Power of Unity event. The occasion was highlighted by the presentation of the Living the Dream Partners Award to Mona Tyree and Dr. Mike Cermak, whose dedication to the principles of equality, justice, and community service reflect Dr. King’s vision.
The Power of Unity event, part of the Living the Dream event series originally organized by Lura and Robert Smith in association with Middlesex Community College.
Held at the Holy Ghost Park, the event featured speeches and musical performances, in addition to the Living the Dream Partners Awards.
This year, the award was presented to Mona Tyree and Dr. Mike Cermak, two individuals whose contributions have made a significant impact on the Lowell community and beyond.
Mona Tyree is a community activist and advocate. She is an Executive Vice President at Enterprise Bank and a member of nearly a dozen community boards and organizations. Her tireless community contributions over many years were cited at the event.
Dr. Michael Cermak, also known as “Master Mike”, is the founder of the Green Dragons, a network of programs which combines mentorship, martial arts training, and mindfulness for youth, as well as growth lessons including preparation of healthy food, among other activities. Green Dragons thinks out of the box to support area youth.
The series, which continues under the auspices of Middlesex Community College, encourages individuals to continue Dr. King’s work in their own lives and communities.
